Still Praying-12.05.14

Amber has been fighting a fever. She still has an infection in her lungs. She has started receiving treatment with a vest that vibrates. I was so concerned about it hurting her back, but she loves it! She gets it every four hours for ten minutes. It helps loosen up the junk in her lungs and then it is suctioned out. She is not receiving near as much sedative. She has been watching cartoons and her comfort comes and goes. She is being such a brave girl! No crying, but no smiles.
Amber may possibly be taken off the ventilator Sunday. This causes me to think about, which I have now come to dread and hate, "the Mask". The doctor had a long talk with me about my concerns and there is no other way. They will give her a sedative this time. (And the doctor thinks I may need one too. lol) The Mask will be on anywhere from approx. 4 hours to 24 hours. There is no way to know. I can hardly stand the thought of it and it is a constant source of anxiety for me. This time if Amber is unable to go off the ventilator successfully, she will get a tracheotomy.
Today I changed how I talk with Amber. Each time she wakes I pray with her and remind her:
1-many people are praying for her and want her to get well
2-she needs to start praying for herself
3-she needs to start fighting
Thank you for your prayers and kind words.
